Statement from Chief Catherine Praiswater , regarding Missing Person incident on April 18, 2026

Effective March 27, 2026 a County-wide Burn Ban is in place until further notice.

As of March 14, 2026, a district-wide burn ban is in effect for the Brazos Canyon Fire District until further notice due to severe drought and/or wind conditions.

Interim Fire Chief Zachary Enriquez has issued a burn ban for all of Rio Arriba County for March 14, 2026 and March 15, 2026 due to forecasted high winds and wind gusts.
