Warm Wishes and Important Updates from the Brazos Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.
The loss of a friend and community leader, community engagement and challenges in 2025.

The BCVFD Open House was a great success with approximately 90 residents of the fire district in attendance. The day began with firefighters participating in Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) training, followed by a delightful dinner provided by Fishtail Ranch and the BCVFD,

While BCVFD receives funds from the NM State Fire Protection Fund, we rely heavily on fund-raising to provide additional revenue for expenditures not readily covered by state funds.
BCVFD Open House Appreciation Dinner August 16th 5:30 – 7:30 for BCVFD fire district property owners. RSVP Required by August 6th. Dinner provided by BCVFD and Fishtail Ranch.

The morning of July 6th, a member of the Volunteer Fire Department found a new fawn at the Ponderosa Fire Station that was obviously dropped off by somebody. The fawn was in poor condition, as seen in the photo below

June 20, 2025 – Rio Arriba County Fire Chief has issued a county wide Burn Ban. Report any outdoor fires to 911.
