Become a Volunteer Firefighter

Residents in the Brazos Canyon and surrounding area rely on volunteers to respond to emergency situations in the Brazos Fire District.

Whether you live in the Brazos area year-round or are only here on a part-time basis, you can be a part of the Brazos Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.  Many of our volunteers are part-time and seasonal residents of the area.  Volunteers must complete the Rio Arriba County Fire & Emergency Services Membership Application and commit to attending regular trainings.

You can join the Brazos Canyon Volunteer Fire Department as  a firefighter or in a limited limited duty capacity.  Both are vital to the departments success and the safety of our community.

In order for the Brazos Canyon Volunteer Fire Department to respond to a call there must be at least 2 department members responding which make limited duty firefighters just as valuable to the team.  Limited Duty firefighters do not work the hoses or directly fight fires, but can provide support like running the truck, etc.

To learn more about joining the Brazos Canyon Volunteer Fire Department, contact Janel at (505) 747-6367 or click here for the Membership Application.
